I guess I didn't think of it as advanced awareness, LOL. It's just what it is. In my everyday life I think before I do anything. There is always this slight hesitation. It has gotten briefer and now people don't seem to even notice it, but I do. When I ride, the hesitation goes away. It is closer to my old normal than it is to my new normal, but it is also different--more instinctual. I guess I become both the hunter and the hunted. It is marvelous. And, it was totally unexpected. I, too, had multiple concussions before the very undramatic walking into the underside of a stairway. It was my one too many. Oh well, no complaints. In all the important ways I enjoy my life today much more than I was enjoying my old life. Funny to have it work out that way.

Keith - Wow! First let me say that I'm sorry that you've suffered a head injury. Thanks to riding bicycles, I've suffered multiple concussions. 4 of the concussions I blacked out and lost my memory. The memories came back eventually, but not completely. To gain advanced awareness as a result from a head injury is pretty amazing! Have you noticed any else? Improved senses? Impaired senses?

I wish I were able to achieve that super high awareness every time I rode, I'd be pretty happy. As it is, I feel like my 6th sense, my Spidey sense, is separate from the ultra sharp focus that you speak of. I even wrote a post about it way back when. :)

Interesting post. The sixth sense/hyper awareness thing. I suffered a head injury nearly a decade ago. It left me with a brain that works differently than the one I experienced before the accident/incident. I began riding a scooter to work to lower my carbon footprint. The first time I rode in the rain something shifted and I found I had back my "linebacker eyes." It was as if everything came into sharper focus, movement around me seemed to slow, and anticipation increased. Ever since that ride, whenever I ride it happens. It is rather remarkable. Thanks for writing. I'm looking forward to Part 2.

Will, the Zumo 550 is XM radio ready. All I needed to do was purchase the antenna (Garmin GMX-30) and get a subscription!
